Joe Cahn, the
Commissioner of Tailgating

|

Thanksgiving with
the Cheeseheads
Hope you all had as great of a Thanksgiving Day tailgate as we did. We were contacted through the website by Dave and his band of Packer fans from Wisconsin and we invited them along for the ride. Apparently them cheeseheads know a good tailgate party when they see one. They brought killer bloody marys and their trademark Wisconsin cheese to add to the feast.
The Commissioner of Tailgating
Congratulations to Joe Cahn, the Commissioneer of Tailgating, who recently got married to apparently the greatest woman alive and then high-tailed it to Detroit. We owe Joe a debt of thanks for his great website and everything he does for the tailgating community. Cheers, Joe!
Turkey Death Match
We cooked three turkeys at the tailgate; one deep-fried, one in the Keg Roaster by CampChef, and the third in the Orion Cooker provided by our friends at Orion Outdoors.
Was there a clear-cut winner? It depends on who you ask. All three birds were juicy and delicious, and all three were cooked in less than 2-1/2 hours. Deep frying produces a wonderful bird with crispy skin, but is messy, expensive and dangerous. The Orion's "set it and forget it" simplicity and added smokey flavor was a definite bonus.
Click HERE to read how Tailgate Chef Al Poe used the Orion Cooker to cook a perfect bird in just over two hours.
Thanksgiving Day Photos
We have tons of tailgating pictures you can look through by clicking HERE. We also have some video to upload, but our video department is getting back-logged from past tailgate footage, so have some patience and check back regularly.

Georgea & Rob receive chili trophy from Kevin
2007 Detroit Tailgate
Chili Cook-Off Champion Crowned
Well, we suffered the Lions first loss at home this season, but not because we didn't tailgate our asses off. It was another great day in the lot, made extra special by the guys from All Man Weekend, The Feasters, the Tubgaters and the Third Annual Detroit Tailgate Chili Cook-Off.
Thanks to everyone who entered the cook-off and made this event a crowd favorite for the third year in a row and congratulations to our winners. This year's awards go to...
Hottest Chili
Todd's "Triple Blast Chili"
Popular Chili
Al's "Dip Sh*t Chili"
2007 Chili Champion
Rob and Georgea's "Chile Chocolate Chili"
Congratulations to Rob and Georgea for taking home the 2007 Detroit Tailgate Chili Champion trophy and having the best pot in the lot. You will be enshrined in the Chili Champions Hall of Fame as soon as we sober up.
Quick Count
Besides the trophy, all winners received a pack of "Quick Count" playing cards generously donated by our friends at Quick Count. Check out this cool football card game at QuickCountFootball.com. It makes a great stocking stuffer for any football fan.
This Week's Photos
The latest photos are up. CLICK HERE to see the Tubgaters, our pal's from Toronto, the Feasters, and all the fun we had this past Sunday.

All Man Weekend

Slight Return
|

Welcome Tubgaters
The party is getting out of hand, and this week is no exception. We'd like extend a warm welcome to the infamous Detroit Tubgaters who will be joining us at this week's tailgate party. Never seen a hot tub on wheels? Get out from under your rock and visit us in Tailgating Lot 1 of the Eastern Market.
All Man Weekend
Also joining us will be the "The All Man Weekend" crew all the way from Toronto. Hide your women folk, because these guys take no prisoners.

The Snickers Feasters
Keep an eye out for these crazy dudes from the Snickers commercials at Ford Field this Sunday. Marketing genious or pure insanity? My guess is a little of both. There's your free plug, now where's our Snickers bars for the deep fryer?
Slight Return this Friday
Our good pals Slight Return will be playing this Friday night, Nov. 16, at The Bullfrog in Redford.

Third Annual Chili Cook-Off
Dice the chilis and fire up the pot, it's the most anticipated event of the tailgating season, our Third Annual Detroit Tailgate Chili Cook-Off! All entries are welcome and there's no entry fee. This year we'll have prizes for multiple categories.
Hottest Chili
Like to inflict pain on unsuspecting tailgaters? We'll reward your sadistic nature.
Popular Chili
Everyone that visits the tailgate can vote for their favorite chili. It's a cool achievement, but will the judges like it?
Detroit Tailgate Chili Champ
Three judges will use their highly-trained and conditioned taste buds to determine the best-of-the-best, the pinnacle of chili cuisine, the Detroit Tailgate Chili Champion!
Besides ultimate bragging rights, the champ will receive the ultimate trophy; a one-of-a-kind beer stein which is also a VIP pass to drinks on the house at all future DetroitTailgate.com events.
Speaking of Beer
You can cool your pallette at the party with some refreshing local Detroit goodness on tap brewed by our good friends at the Atwater Block Brewery. Drink responsibly. Drink local beer.

Cornhole champs Bremer and Sage accept their prizes
Tailgating with the Broncos
A wild day of news crews, commercial productions, cornhole tourneys and beer drinking. What more could you ask for? A Lions win and a record of 6-2 you say? You got it. We'll even throw in an interception returned for a touchdown by Shawn Rogers for free. What a bargain. What a day!
Bremer/Sage Win Cornhole Tournament
Congratulations to the team of Bremer/Sage for taking the title. It was a hard fought battle, and the final game was against their own members of the Beery Sanders Bus. Bremer and Sage received VIP passes to the autograph session with Roy Williams at the Somerset Collection in Troy.
Bronco Fans Kick Ass
We've found new respect for the Denver Broncos and their fans. These guys and gals are football and tailgate professionals and they're welcome in our yard any time. Special thanks to Bronco Bum for the awesome endorsement on our front page.
Visit the tailgating boards on OrangeMane.com to see more photos from our orange and blue friends. You'll have to register to get on the boards, but it's worth the effort.
Check out the Testimonials page for some fantastic feedback we've been receiving. Detroit ranked 31st in the NFL for tailgating? Don't believe everything you read on the web, kiddies.
The Broncos Tailgate Photos Are Up
See the news crews, the fans, the debauchery and our own Al Poe tearing the lot apart and rearranging it into a weird and wild Lions love fest. We're not lying when we tell say, "You've never seen a tailgate party like this before." Click here to see the photos. Now it's time to work on the videos.
All Man Weekend
You have to see these guys from Toronto who are coming to Detroit the weekend of Nov. 17th for their annual "All Man Weekend" in Detroit. These adventurers know how to party and we can't wait to see them at the Nov. 18th tailgate party before the Lions vs Giants game. Check out their website, lock up your wives and keep an eye out for these dangerous characters around town.
Lions at the Cardinals
Want to see what the Card's fans are saying about this week's game vs Detroit? Visit the Arizona Cardinals Forum for some great reading.

Unbelievable tailgate parties. Great game. Thanks to our new friends DenDave, BroncoBum, and Bronco Billy who are tailgate professionals and represented their team well. Congrats to Bremer and Sage of the Beery Sanders Bus crew for winning the cornhole tourney. Photos and videos to come soon.
What it's all about
If you missed the video on the splash page, here it is again. Thanks to BroncoBum for being the epitome of the ideal NFL fan. We're all brothers and sisters in the tailgating lot, and it's all about having a good time with good people.
More to come, but I need to take a nap after all the excitement today. We have a lot of photos and videos to process, so please have some patience and and check back over the next few days. We'll get them up as soon as we shake this hangover.
