The Best of 2007
The 2007 season was a break-out season for us here at DetroitTailgate.com. Let's take a look back and see exactly what made this year so special.

Theo "Gridiron" Spight
Theo, you know, the guy who sings the Lions fight song at Ford Field every home game, showed up at our tailgate not once, but twice, to lead us in singing "Gridiron Heroes." This is probably our finest accomplishment to date, and secretly believe it's the reason the Lions started the season 6-2.

The Bands!
We absolutely love the bands who had the balls to put it all on the line and perform in the parking lot. It takes a lot of work and time on their part, and we want you to visit their websites and buy their CDs.
- Hide From Cleo - VIDEO
DetroitTailgate.com's original "house band." They started it all and are part of the family. They're also one of the best live bands in Michigan, hands down. Go see them.

- HELICON - VIDEO
These guys go all out in everything they do and know how to rock a crowd with their gritty, old-school Detroit rock-n-roll.

- Slight Return - VIDEO
They're making big moves on the Detroit scene and you're going to be hearing a lot from them in the near future.

We're looking forward to having all three of these bands back in 2008, and we're always looking for more. If you know of a band that is looking for some unique exposure and loves the city as much as we do, have them send us an email. All of our bands contact us to play, we don't pursue them. We want them to play because they want to, not because someone asked them to. So c'mon, join the party and be heard!
The Broncos Game
Not only was this the greatest Lions victory of the Lions season, it was probably the funnest tailgate party of the year. The Broncos fans were a blast, we held a cornhole tournament and spent the day being filmed for a commercial that will hopefully air sometime in the future.
Our tailgate chef, Al Poe, was on his game and showed everyone just how much enthusiasm and passion he has for our Detroit Lions. See the photos HERE.
The Cornhole Tournament
We had 16 two-man teams competing for the title of "Best Cornholers in the Lot," and the winners received VIP passes to a Roy Williams meet and greet session. See the photos HERE.
Thanksgiving Day Tailgate
Even though the Lions lost to the Packers, this year's Thanksgiving Day tailgate party was one of the funnest we've ever had. We cooked three turkeys with three different methods and had a blast. Watch the video HERE.
2007 Detroit Tailgate Chili Cook-Off
Our new friends Rob and Georgea won the third annual chili cook-off with their "Chile Chocolate Chili." See the photos HERE.
Television Appearances
We were interviewed by television news crews multiple times over the season, but nothing compared to the tailgate party and exclusive interview we held at the FOX 2 Detroit studios for their morning news broadcast the week prior to the home opener. We fed well over 20 FOX 2 employees and had a great time doing it. Watch the video HERE.
Tailgating MVPs
It takes a lot of work by a lot of people to do what we do here at DetroitTailgate.com, and we'd like to acknowledge just a few of this season's MVPs.
- Chef Al Poe
Al goes above and beyond the call of duty every home game to cook for as many as 100 people. We can't thank you enough, Al.
- Bob & Brenda
Owners of the the infamous Big Twinkie RV, they make sure everyone is comfortable and supply all of our electricity.
- Bad Weather Fan
BWF constructed our one-of-a-kind, collapsible travel bar, complete with a two faucet tower and keg coolers. You freaking rule.
- Funny Girl
Our official photographer, she works hard to make sure every moment is captured for you to see.
- Big Joe
Joe is the guy with the commercial margarita machine which kept everyone happy at the bar.
Thanks to everyone who made this year so much fun, and we can't wait to do it again next September. Visit this website often, because we have some off-season plans in the works, including a night at the Royal Oak Music Theater to see Slight Return open for Robin Trower on Saturday, March 29th.
We will be scheduling some meetings this spring to discuss our plans for next season, the costs and ways to improve the parties. If you or your group want to get involved, contact us by emailing kevin@detroittailgate.com. We welcome everyone to participate with the goal of turning this into one giant neighborhood block party every week.
