We have a ton of leftover beer from the Final Four tailgate party, and what better way to reduce an overstock of beer than to throw a party!

We're throwing a house party on Saturday, April 25. Burgers, beer and liquor will be on hand as we cross our fingers and pray the Lions do right in the draft.

Honorable mention goes to Tom the "Mad Chef." We met Tom in the parking lot, and he kept feeding us delicious cajun chicken and outstanding ribs. Dude was an incredible parking lot chef, and we're currently recruiting him to join our team. Kudos to you, Tom, and thanks for the awesome food!

It's been a long time between updates. The 2008 season was so brutal, it still makes us vomit a little just thinking of it. Plus, the weather during the final home game against the Saints was so cold (5 degrees with 35 mph winds) we couldn't keep the beer from freezing and cancelled the tailgate.

But, time has passed, a new coach is here, and the Lions are begging season ticket holders to return next season. So, let's celebrate by looking at pictures from the last tailgate party of 2008.

The rebuild
We're going to continue to lay low for awhile here at DetroitTailgate.com. There are still a few gems from the 2008 season we have yet to post, and an offseason tailgate party or two we're going to host (Go Tigers! Go Wings!), but we're going to rest up and heal our wounds.

Congrats to the Arizona Cardinals for getting to the Super Bowl. We here in Detroit have a special bond with the Cards and wish them the best. Check out our brothers of the Cards #1 Tailgating Team.

This is it. Another season has passed, and the Lions have one more opportunity to win at home and avoid setting a horrific NFL record. We'll be tailgating this Sunday with a handful of Lions die-hards and enjoying every second of it.

Speaking of gratuitous media appearances, Detroit Tailgate showed up on Inside the NFL on Showtime on November 26th. We'll get some video of that as soon as we can.

The Thanksgiving tailgate was an international event with guests from Canada, Mexico, and Great Britain! Special shout-outs to Mark and his Canadien Crew, and Favi, our friend from Mexico.

Congratulations to Chris Merrill and his Venison Chili for winning the Fourth Annual Detroit Tailgate Chili Cook-Off. Chris is now inducted into the Detroit Tailgate Chili Hall of Flame alongside the previous champs of the chili pot.

Thanksgiving Photos

Next Tailgate
The next home game is December 7th. With three games in two weeks, we're running a little behind at the website. Details on the remaining two tailgates to come.

Only the tailgate remains

As far as we're concerned at Detroit Tailgate, the remaining tailgate parties just happen to coincide with Lions home games. The game is no fun, and the tailgate parties have more entertainment than the Lions could ever provide. And the beer is cheaper, too!

The Tubgaters
Special thanks to Denny and The Tubgaters for making the last game so much fun. You can see them in the gallery, or in person at every home game across the street from Vivio's in the southeast corner of Tailgate Lot 1 in the Eastern Market.
